Adjacent to Cantera is the new Schell elementary school, which is in Plano Independent School District. Children will walk through a security access gate and be at school in a matter of seconds.

To the south and west of Cantera is Breckinridge Park, with 417 acres of sports fields, jogging trails, lakes and creeks, with a multitude of family friendly activity areas.

Adjacent to the park is Firewheel Golf course to the south, and a mile to the north is Pecan Hollow Golf course. Bordering the property to the west is the park, pecan groves, and Rowlett Creek.

Shopping

½ million square feet of retail is under construction 1.5 miles to the northeast. Firewheel Town Center is 4 miles to the southeast (opened in 2006).

The Arts and Entertainment

The Eisemann Center for the performing arts, Richardson Symphony Orchestra, Wild flower Festival, Cottonwood Art Festival, are all home to the City of Richardson. Its home to the Dallas Stars, and the Dallas Mavericks. In addition, you'll see everything from family shows, concerts and signature sporting events.

Transportation

George Bush Turnpike DART station is 5 miles to the west on Renner Road. Dallas Love Field and DFW International airport are 24 and 32 miles respectively.
